As you drive up river from its confluence with the Clark’s Fork in western Montana, the Blackfoot River cuts through rock forming a rugged canyon. The rocks underwater, seen through the glacial milk, are the most amazing colors of green, turquoise, ochre and red earth. I’ve painted this as a sketch – practice for a larger painting sometime in the future perhaps.
